Default 2013 200 Touring 4-Cylinder Constant Shifting on Hills

    I recently bought a used 2013 200 Touring. It's a 4-Cylinder with the 6-Speed Trans. It has approx. 30k miles on it.

When I'm on the highway on cruise control at a steady highway speed (say 65 mph) and hit a slight hill the transmission either downshifts or disengages the torque converter clutch (TCC) and then immediately upshifts or re-engages the TCC repeatedly. It does this every couple seconds until I crest the hill. The tachometer goes from 2000 rpm to 2700 rpm and back to 2000 rpm and up to 2700 rpm, well, you get the picture. I don't know if it's actually shifting or engaging/disengaging the TCC.

It seems odd to me, but this is the first time I've driven a car with a 6-speed trans.

    What do you think?

Upon further analysis, it appears that it's the torque converter clutch that is engaging and disengaging repeatedly on hills. I called the local CDJR dealer and made an appointment to have it checked. Apparently I'm the only one on this forum who has experienced this problem.

I found a TSB for the transmission to improve upshifts. Not sure if that's your problem but here is a link....

I've never owned or driven a 200 with the 4 cyl but my brother complained of similar problems regarding cruise control driving in hilly areas. He thought it was simply lack of power.

    Thanks, Dale_K

The dealer re-flashed the PCM using TSB 18-050-16 REV. A. The tech said that this is a common complaint and that this re-flash should fix it. I hope so. Dealer did it at no cost, so that's good.

My wifes V6 does this on long very steep grades (as does my Charger with the NAG1 5 speed), I just use the autostick and put them in 4th gear.
