Trannie is sealed. They get the car up to operating temp and put it on a machine to check it.

Likely you won't find a lot of helpful info in the manual.

theyre never really sealed.. the one in my Mountaineer is "Sealed" too.. and I changed fluid and cleaned filter and pan myself.. u usually take out a bolt, often dipstick built in there like my ford tranny has.. and you need a hand pump to pump fluid out and back in. Also need some type of end to attach your pump into the hole.. you can make out of some type of tubing or if feeling rich, buy the end. Mercedes.. etc all similar with their trans now. Basically keeps dumdums from messing with it that will put in wrong fluid, helps protect from dirt, etc., and from people overfilling. Most 6-8spds are using special LV type fluids, and regular thick fluid will blow em quick as you can pour it in.

Secondly, the way dealers service these transmissions now.. flushing, or "fluid transfer" as dealers like to call it is dangerous I dont care what they say.. sealed or not.. small particles in there can get forced into places it should not be that normal operation would otherwise never push it into. You will always find some small metal particles in the pan you can clean out with parts washer.. dealer would have forced it up into the workings of the trans. Ill do my own, anyone else can do as they like if they want to trust what the dealer tells them. Remember, they only need it to last as long as your warranty. However, I would like it to last much longer. Theyll say "we never have an issue". Well yeah, cause at 100k miles or so when people's trans' blow theyre likely going to bring it to Aamco or somewhere private other than paying a dealer 3-4 grand or more to put a new trans in their 6k dollar car. Plus, good luck proving it was the dealers fault to start with if you try and go there when it goes.
