    Default NAV Setup & Text Question

    Need a little bit of help here. I have the R3A radio with Nav installed.

    Can someone please give me step by step guidance as to how to set up my Nav to avoid toll roads. Thanks.

    I have a problem receiving texts on my iPhone (5c) while in my car.

    Problem being, I don't/can't receive any. My car seems to be a 'dead zone' for texts. I can use the phone feature with no problems at all. All calls come in via the radio and I can answer them no problem. However if someone sends me a text nothing happens at all, no text alert from the phone nor from the radio. Is this normal? Do you receive texts? What usually happens is when I arrive home and step out of the car the text alert goes off and all my texts arrive on my phone.

    What am I doing wrong if anything? Am I missing some setting either on my phone or on my radio or both? Help!


    And yes I know I should not be reading or answering texts while driving .... I don't. My wife is usually beside me when I am in the car and she can check and answer texts.

    We don't have the text message function in Canada, however when your cell receives a text, if you have an iPhone and the latest Uconnect update you can hold the voice recognition button for 2 seconds and Siri will come up. You can then instruct her to "read text messages" and she will read it for you and ask you if you want to reply.

    Thanks Fernboy1. I'm not really interested in receiving texts via the uconnect system.

    It's just that when someone sends me a text while I am in the car I neither get notified (Text chime) nor receive the text on my phone. As far as texts are concerned my phone is dead while I am in the car. I only get the text alert chime and my text appears after I get out of the car.

    Hmmm, this is weird though, certainly not related to the car, check your phones settings. My texts work great in the car using SIRI.
