Could have sworn I found one before. Must have been for one of my 13's. Bummer cause I am not a fan of oiling a filter.

I do have an AEM Dryflow cone.

In my quest today to find the end of the internet, I found this article. Then found this in hopes of finding the improved rod design. Unfortunately the only forged/aftermarket pistons I could find were here. But Mahle for the stock pistons (and rods assuming) are pretty good IMO. I interviewed there about 7 years ago not knowing they had bought Cosworth, one of the best of the best in race engine design and highly reputable.

Ouch. So tonight on my way home I tried the S mode, manual shifting mode, automatic shift from 1st to 2nd. Holy **** was it hard. Totally sealed the deal for me on the diy dogbone poly mount. I figured it would be hard, and/or I'd get the exhaust hitting body like I've had in other cars. But it was a BIG, solid bang. On the good side..... holy **** this car goes from a 15-20 roll!

I've previously pointed out here that the factory setup already is a well designed cold air intake (as did former member and modder PITT early on) and also that no one had yet demonstrated that a "CAI"-style cone filter would flow more in this application (i.e., provide better performance) than a K&N panel in the OE housing. Which is why I've only bothered to substitute the K&N panel for the OE paper filter and the "Torque Tube" for the factory resonator. Best proven bang for the buck, and very simple to accomplish.

Please do continue to keep us posted on your further mods.
What is this torque tube you guys keep mentioning? I ordered a k/n air filter for the oem housing after reading your comments.

Can you tell me what it does? Or what purpose does it serve?

Makes the engine noise a little louder and increases air flow. The torque tube that is. The resonator just quiets the engine down a but under load.

After a few days of driving with the new filter, I'd have to say wow. I like to use 91 Shell v power, with the k/n. There's more torque noticeable in the higher rpm. With the stock exhaust it makes it sound louder than with stock air filter also gives it more pop when down shifting which sounds sick. Almost as if the engine is free to breathe, I probably won't notice and mpg gains as I'm heavy on the foot. I'm debating whether I should get this torque tube. Will I notice more torque if installed?
