Angry How can I already be having car trouble with my 200?

About a month ago, I bought a 2011 200 touring with less than 20,000 miles on it. It was running great until a couple days ago... I was driving to work and all of the sudden, the gas pedal didn't feel right. It won't go all the way down and feels jammed, so it can't accelerate hardly at all. This is pretty ridiculous that I am already having trouble with the car after a month... What could be wrong with it?

Does the touring model have the hooks to hold the floor mats in place? I had a corolla that pedal would get stuck down sometimes at full throttle, or u would not be able to push pedal down far.. floor mat would slide underneath. My S has hooks to hold in place. If you have that, then you may just want to look up there and make sure it actually isnt jammed somehow. Even if TPS was freezing or faulty.. your pedal should still move like normal it would just not have the reaction you were going for when pressed. It is likely in the pedal assembly itself.. make sure the assembly itself hasnt come loose, it bolts to the firewall usually, and if loose wouldnt let you push down all the way, or possibly the pivot bushing could be bad. While looking at assmbly, try to move the pedal through motion with the vehicle off, you will probably find the problem. Even if taking to dealer.. doesnt hurt to look yourself so you see how it all works under there be4 bringing it in to them, then you dont feel uninformed when they tell you what they've found. Let us know how you make out.

Hey I found this Recall from Dodge from couple years ago... would not affect your car but this is an example... actually more common than you would think: JUNE 2010 -- Chrysler is recalling certain model year 2007 Dodge Caliber and Jeep Compass passenger vehicles manufactured from March 7 through May 19, 2006. The pivot bushings in vehicles with oversizedaccelerator pedal bearing pockets may become dislodged and potentially cause the accelerator pedal tobind or stick. Should the pedal bind or become stuck, it can be overcome by smart brakes which override the accelerator pedal in certain conditions. Chrysler will notify owners and dealers will inspect andreplace all affected accelerator pedal assemblies free of charge. The safety recall began on June 29, 2010. Chrysler's recall campaign number is K11. 10V-234

same issue: YAHOO NEWS -- June 5, 2010 – Chrysler is recalling nearly 35,000 Dodge Calibers in the United States and around the world to fix a potential problem with sticky gas pedals, the same issue that has affected millions of Toyotas. Chrysler Group LLC said it will recall about 25,000 Calibers in the U.S. from the 2007 model year and a limited number of 2007 Jeep Compass SUVs to inspect vehicles built between March and May of 2006. The remaining vehicles are in Mexico, Canada and elsewhere.
The pedals were made by CTS Corp., the Elkhart, Ind., company that manufactured pedals involved in the recall of more than 2 million Toyotas earlier this year. Chrysler told NHTSA the pedals were "a completely different design" and made "with different tooling" than the pedals involved in Toyota's recall. NHTSA opened an investigation into the Chrysler pedals in April. The auto company noted that the small SUVs have "smart brake" technology allowing the brake to override the gas pedal and safely bring the vehicle to a stop. Chrysler said it did not consider the problem a safety defect but decided to conduct a safety recall anyway. The automaker said it was unaware of any reports of accidents, injuries or property damage related to the pedals. In documents filed with NHTSA, Chrysler estimated that 30 percent of the vehicles covered by the recall may need to have the pedal assembly replaced. Chrysler dealers will inspect the recalled vehicles and replace affected pedals with a new pedal unit at no charge to customers.

Complex devices like automobiles can have trouble at any time, or no trouble any time. Luck of the draw.
It should be under warranty, have the dealer check it.

    Hey there,

I'm a reporter in Chicago working on an article that would really benefit from the perspective of a 200 owner? I'm at aweaver3@gmail.com ... should be fun and take 5 minutes max!

    Thanks so much,

    Alex

Check the floor mats. I have to pull them back at least once a day.
