    Default 2011 200 Limited 3.6 Crankshaft pulley/harmonic balancer removal

    Hi all,

I tried using the search feature but it won’t display any results (it doesn’t display anything, actually), so I apologize if this has been discussed before.

I have a 2011 Chrysler 200 Limited with the 3.6 and I’m trying to remove the crankshaft pulley. I’ve tried to break the bolt using an impact and with a breaker bar to no avail. I’ve seen multiple instances of people recommending blipping the engine with a breaker bar braced against the frame of the vehicle, but wasn’t sure if anyone had any experience with that on this particular engine or if there were any other suggestions.

    Thanks!

Just an update for anyone who stumbles upon this thread. Tried a few different things but I ended up using a MAPP gas torch and impact to get the bolt off.

Just had to do the same thing. My harmonic balancer started coming apart and shredded the serpentine belt. I jammed a screwdriver in there to stop it from spinning and used a breaker bar (after busting two regular ratchets) to get it loose. Also used lots of PB. Those things are a bitch to get off...

Was it making any unusual noises before it shredded the belt? I hear this is a common problem on the Pentastar over 100K miles - on all vehicles with the Pentastar 3.6.
"Black Knight" was my father's trucker CB handle.

For anyone reading this in the future...AFTER finally removing the bolt use a harmonic balancer puller like this one...

    The pulley/balancer can also be a bitc#...
I have used the engine bump and a breaker bar successfuly on HyundaiS AND KIAs... Haven't tried it on a Chrysler engine..
