    Default Adapter engine oil filter

    Just paid an obscene amount for a known Chrysler problem that had not had a recall but has been a well known problem on the 3.6 engine. I can not comprehend how FCA and ignore this problem.TSB Number: 68105583A NHTSA Number:10139934 TSB Date: June 1, 2016. Unfortunately for me, my warranty period expired Sept 2018. Has anyone else experienced this problem The service writer knew right away when I called for service. Apparently a well known problem.

    Curious on how much you had to pay for this to be fixed? Or how much was the labor cost?

    Who did your oil changes? Did the dealer or a quickie lube?

    The FCA dealer charged me $693.81 to replace the defective part. Half of that was labor, $262 for the part (68105583AF) the rest gaskets, antifreeze and oil. A well known problem with this engine. My son has a 2014 RAM with the 3.6 and told me about this problem. Based on this and other problems with this car, need to seriously consider getting the extended warranty or by a Ford!

    I don't think FCA ignored the problem, simply because of the fact that FCA issued a TSB or Technical Service Bulletin about it. It's covered under power-train warranty, 5 years/100,000 miles for 2015 and older and 5 years 60,000 miles for 2016 and newer.

    Mine did leak and it was replaced under warranty.

    If it's a defect that doesn't create a safety issue, car manufactures are not likely to issue a full blown recall although I do think they all should.

    That's expensive and can understand your frustration, don't think Fords are much better though. My Ford (bought new)...Actually 03 Mazda 6 aka Ford Fusion with the 3.0 Duratec V6 needed it's gaskets replaced. Kept ruining the coils and that was a lot more expensive than this.

    Was curious since I will have 110k miles on my 200 in about 2 weeks and haven't had this issue yet. Wondering if this might be partly since I don't do my oil changes and have dealer do it.

    This is one area that should have stayed metal and not plastic.

    It very well could be, most do-it-yourself people including myself won't use a torque wrench to tighten the oil filter housing cap - maybe not many dealer tech's either but I don't know. I do know that according to the dealer, mine was leaking from the somewhere other than where the filter housing cap connects to the oil cooler.

    Either way having the oil changed by the dealer puts them liable if they crack the housing by over-tightening the cap. I suppose by a third party as well but more difficult to have them fix it etc...

    I was going to comment on Ford reliability as well but changed my mind... but since you did... it would be an understatement to say it would be like jumping from a frying pan into a fire
