    Default Heating /A/C malfunction

I have a 2012 and when you move the dial to change the area you want the air to go you hear a flapping sound for a little while then it starts working as it should. This just started happening. Are these vacuum operated or electric and what do I need to repair it ? Thank you

The mode, recirc and blend doors are all driven by the same P/N electric motor. This happened in my wife's car, it was the recirc motor in her case. And it activates whenever you open the door, and every 15 minutes or so thereafter for awhile.
What happens is that the teeth strip internally, or sometimes the shaft breaks.
You can buy a new motor from RockAuto, and installing it takes about 45 minutes and some contortions, lying across the console. But it's fairly easy once you access it - just the electrical plug and two mounting screws (Philips).

Do NOT buy Dorman brand - I did, and it failed again a few months later. RockAuto has the Mopar brand also, and it works well. Should be in the neighborhood of $30 or so.

    MOPAR 68018109AA

    $33.79

There is likely a Youtube video showing how to replace it.
