Been looking through all of the threads for audio and can't find anything that relates to my situation. I wanna keep my head unit but install my own amplifier and subwoofers. I used LOC to tap into the rear deck speakers. Amplifier turns on just fine, wires are hooked up correctly. Only issue is that when I turn the car on the subwoofers make a low humming noise. Even with radio volume muted. I can play music and hear the bass but then it starts randomly blasting. I used different RCA cables to make sure they were fine and it still happens. Do I need to bypass or remove the factory amp? Does the amp only affect the speakers or the radio as well?

A speaker hum points to a possible ground issue, either a missing ground or ground loop. This link discusses ground loops

If you can’t get it to work, maybe just try installing an aftermarket head unit. I have one connected to my aftermarket amp and dual 10” subs connected to them and it sounds great. And a major plus with the aftermarket head unit is they allow you to modify the sounds more to get the most out of your subs.
