The CEL came,on and I did the ignition key trick to get the code. Mot displays P06dA.

from what I could find its says it's a "Engine oil pressure control - circuit open"

anyone have anybexperience with with what it is or is it an easy fix.

on almost all of the 3.6 liter engines that is just the oil pressure switch. its located under the intake on the oil filter housing. we replace a few everyday. mice also like to make a home right there and eat the wiring
Is it a fairly easy fix...? As in easy to get to...?
[h=2]P06DA-ENGINE OIL PRESSURE CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN[/h]Possible Causes:
(G62) VARIABLE OIL PUMP CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE
VARIABLE OIL PUMP
POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE

Can you get at the sensor from the trans side of the engine or do you need to remove the upper intake manifold to get to it? I don't remember if there is any room to R&R with the manifold in place. If you need to remove the upper intake, this would be a great time to replace the spark plugs on your 2011.

The he good news is the fault code cleared by itself and the CEL went off.
I was driving home yesterday and the light came,on but it was a P1028 code. I think it may be the thermostat.......
I got a CEL this morning and P06DA is the code.

My oil level is fine and I just changed the oil a few weeks ago.

I didn't see a way to see anything besides oil temperature - I am surprised there isn't an oil pressure gauge on my car... unless I missed it for 91K miles... it's entirely possible, sometimes I miss the obvious.
The service manual says this is for variable oil pump control circuit....

Set Condition:
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) detects and open on the (G62) Variable Oil Pump Control circuit for 1.5 seconds

It talks about checking for a break in the wiring harness, potentially replacing the section of harness involved. If the problem is intermittent you're supposed to check for loose grounds and other similar issues on the affected circuit.

The oil pump on this motor has a 2 stage design controlled by a solenoid valve. It would be a pretty big deal if the problem is the solenoid itself because it's a big job to replace. I think you would get a different code. Every time the car goes through a cold start it eventually tests the dual stage oil pump as the motor warms up. The computer switches the solenoid and watches to see if the oil pressure changes. I think you get a different code if it fails. P06DD or P06DE depending if it fails low or high.

The CEL went off the same day. If it comes on again, I will see if the oil pressure sensor is under powertrain, and if so, take it in. If not, I will take a look at the wires and maybe order a new pressure sensor.

Doing some internet searching, seems like this is a fairly common issue for the Pentastar and most of the time the remedy is to replace the oil pressure sensor.
Light came on again this morning on my way to work. At least I got to remote start and warm it up this morning. Won't be doing it for the trip home I guess. "First world" problem.

If anyone is interested I will update after this is resolved.

Can anybody tell me what the resistance

Can anybody tell me what the resistance is on the oil pump solenoid on the 3.6 engine is? I disconnected the wire going to the solenoid yesterday so that my oil pump is always in high mode and this gives me good oil pressure all the time-but my engine light stays on.

On my known good one it's ~ 22 ohms.
