A note about intermittent coolant odors on the 2.4L.
The 3-piece upper radiator hose on some of these can seep at the couplings. A drop may never reach the ground, but might leave a crusty stain at the leak source where it evaporates. The later production hoses seems better quailty and have a different Mopar part #.
I would have never seen this if I hadn't looked up at the hose from underneath the car. I had been smelling hot coolant once in a while for months and I knew that it wasn't my imagination. I just hadn't caught any leaks until then.
