I?ve wondered if my dealer has ever done the proxy alignment. They are dumber than a doorstop. But if I?m in any gear and let the rpms go down to 1250 then press the gass agin the trans shudders as it engages. They say it?s normal. I think they are full of it. Anyone else have this issue and did a proxy realignment help. I?m just 3000 out of warranty and between this my oil pressure sensor and my GPS thinking I?m driving through corn field I?m getting fed up. I love my car and the performance, but ****!

I've got over 10,000 miles since the proxy alignment was done on my car. Still, Noooooooo problem with the shifting.....I highly recommend the procedure, even if you have to pay for it yourself. (I did)

DESCRIPTION
There are two PROXI routines in the BCM:
1. Restore BCM Proxi Configuration
This routine will read vehicle configuration from DealerCONNECT and write it into the BCM. It should be run in two scenarios:

  • BCM is replaced
  • Sales codes added
2. Proxi Configuration Alignment
This routine will read vehicle configuration from the BCM and write it to other ECUs that need it. It also has two scenarios in which it should be run:

  • Any other ECU besides BCM was replaced.
  • The “Restore BCM Proxi Configuration” was performed.
You may experience the following issues when you run the PROXI Configuration Alignment Procedure:

  • DTC B2204 ECU Configuration Mismatch may become active.
  • Flashing Odometer.
  • Negative response 22 while writing the PROXI as shown in the screenshot below:

Tips for troubleshooting PROXI Configuration Alignment Issues:

  1. Start with the vehicle fully asleep.
This is to make sure no previously run diagnostic procedures are interfering. To make sure the vehicle is fully asleep:

  • Turn the key off.
  • Remove the diagnostic tool from the data link connector.
  • Close all doors.
  • Open and shut the driver’s door and watch for the cluster to shut off.
Wait an additional 3 to 5 minutes before opening the door to reconnect the diagnostic tool.

  • NOTE: If the PROXI Configuration Alignment Procedure is run once, any additional attempts without letting the vehicle go completely to sleep, will result in a negative response.
  1. PROXI Alignment procedure should not be run with vehicle in Ship mode.
If you are receiving negative responses from many ECUs when running PROXI Alignment procedure, please make sure the vehicle is in Customer mode. If the vehicle was in Ship mode, please wait for at least 30 seconds after taking it out before running the PROXI Alignment procedure.

  1. If RADIO is one of the modules being configured
Instead of cycling the ignition to confirm the RADIO is configured, you should let the vehicle go fully asleep as described in step 1 above. After that,

  • Turn the vehicle back on.
  • Connect with wiTECH.
  • Run the PROXI Alignment procedure again.
It should now show that RADIO is configured. If the Procedure is running successfully, but the RADIO is not powering up, it indicates that the vehicle has other issues and please contact STAR for further troubleshooting with the vehicle.

  1. ABS/EPS DTCs
It may take two key cycles for ABS/EPS DTCs to go stored after those ECU's had PROXI aligned.

  1. Tools Usage
Please DO NOT USE StarMOBILE device to perform the PROXI Configuration Alignment procedure.A VCI Pod or a microPOD II should be used to perform this procedure.

What we need to know is which OBD II adaptors will work with this app. There a lot available, starting at ~$5 all the way to a couple of hundred dollars.

If anyone, who has used this app, could let us know which adaptors they have tried would be very useful

It's been awhile since I looked at the ALFAOBD developer's web site, since I got the app last August, but it recommends which OBD units to use. I'm using a recommended (not cheap) OBDLink MX Bluetooth. IMO you'd be taking an expensive gamble attempting PROXI alignment with a cheap unit.

I had a cheap elm-327 one... around $12 iirc. It would connect, log certain PIDs, and do certain tests like ETC relearn. But it will not connect to certain modules or run a proxy relearn.

I ended up buying the OBDlink MX Bluetooth and it does it all. I wouldn't waste time/money cause if you screw up at some point like I did. The car actually still worked, but everything was blinking.

Bought the OBDlink recommend one and fixed everything. One way you can tell if a proxy didn't take a configuration change properly is the odometer will be blinking. In the app, I recommend doing an imitial real out. Or keep logging on always. It will show the changes you made so if you try a bunch and something goes wrong, you can back track.

Well, I am stuck between a rock and a blinking odometer.

On one hand I can spend hundreds of dollars for something I will only use once, or I can trust the dealer that doesn't know what it's doing, for about the same price.

Or I just live with a blinking odometer and an auto dim mirror that doesn't work.

Or I put in the old radio, and be done with it, because the mics on the Uconnect 5 seem to be so bad the unit doesn't understand anything I say.

Well, that's something you need to figure out. On one hand it will also allow you to read ANY CEL, where most readers can only read a powertrain fault. With this it can read ABS, BCM......anything. And it's gives MANUFACTURER specific faults. I had noticed with my old setup, and TORQUE2 PRO it gave a generic powertrain fault description. When I got ALFAobd and read it, it gave way more specific info. This alone is super helpful to me.

It will also perform dealer only tests and relearns. Huge for me.

But, if you want to go the dealer route. I would call around to a few places and talk to they're service manager. And be very specific about if they are familiar with proxy alignments AND car configuration changes. The problem lies between the two. I had a proxy fail having forgotten I had the cheap odb2 bluetooth connector in. Later after testing and playing around with configuration changes, the proxy went fine. But had the odometer flashing, but no faults showing. The I did a check faults for the....BCM or Radio, can't remember. It said something along the lines of "configuration not specified for vehicle". I checked the data to see what the changes I made last were, reverted them in a config change, did the proxy, all was well then.

Anyway, call around to a few places and talk to they're service manager. And be very specific about if they are familiar with proxy alignments AND car configuration changes. Tell them how you changed the radio, and what the last dealer did/said. That the odometer is flashing. IT NEEDS A CONFIGURATION CHANGE, POSSIBLY SALES CODE UPDATE, THEN A PROXY RELEARN. That's all I got for ya man. Hope it get figured out!

I did exactly that, today. I called the dealer in the town about 50 miles down the road, and chatted with the girl at first, then the service manager came on and I told him all the details and he said
that it should be no problem. I mentioned about the previous dealer saying the radio had the previous VIN and he said that if I had the unlock code, which I do, then it isn't a problem.

Ok, another $169 dollars and I am in the same spot. They said the BCM took the mirror codes and everything except the radio.

The program says the radio 'ECU is active but not build'.

Basically, they are saying that the BCM in my car cannot accept this radio. The only thing I can think of is that this radio came out of a car with automatic climate control and my car has manual controls, so my car's bcm simply has no provision for this radio.

What year, model, and drivetrain do you have. Pretty sure there's only one BCM part. Just the settings are different.

it came with a Uconnect 3.0 base with 4 speakers.

I added the Uconnect 5.0, steering wheel controls, Mirror w/autodim/uconnect and driver assist. I had to add the wire harness to the mirror.

The mirror does not do anything right. The mics don't work, the autodim does not work but the red light is on and the buttons light up.

I already tested it. You can add sales codes and do proxy alignment. Possibly other stuff that I haven't explored yet.
How did you add sales code? My app is requesting that I enter the code in a specific format. XXXYZZZ. XXX is the Software Change Level (SCL), Y is Part Change Level (PCL), and ZZZ is the Sales Code. I have tried entering NHSP for heated steering wheel but it would not complete without it being in XXXYZZZ format.

What all did you need to do to put the mirror in your car? I’ve got a 2016 200 Limited that had the RA2 radio in it. I just bought the RA4 radio and like the idea of having the driver assist (911) feature.

You need the button on the windshield, if your car has the old style wedge mount, a wiring harness from the passenger side pillar to the mirror (replaces the one that powers your overhead console now), you need the mirror and you need to get a subscription for the 911, but there are issues with that too. Apparently the assist feature is set by VIN.

I have all the stuff installed in my car, but the auto dim does not work and the microphones do not work, so I don't know if my mirror is bad, or I have the wrong harness.

gokart2 did not print up his 'Build Sheet' he printed up his BCM readout. I have no idea how that is done. However, if you want a copy of your build sheet you can go HERE. Open the page and on the left side you will see a link for 'Equipment Listing'. Click on that and it will open a new page. Near the top you will see a space to type in your vin number. Enter you vin and you're good to go.

Okay, so if my car, a 2015 200s 3.6 fwd, didn't come with the back up camera, can it be added by itself, or do I have to get the full sensor package to include the front camera and park assist stuff?

My car had a Compustar remote start added, and its pissing me off because I feel its messed up the system. I say this because when I use the remote start, pretty much any action causes the car to shut off, and I have to use the normal starting procedure. Any ideas on if I could potentially uninstall the remote start, and add a factory one where the key fob isn't rendered obsolete from a secondary unit?
