I give up. What should have been a simple upgrade of a radio has turned into ****. Chrysler dealers are woefully inept, and there is little to no useful information on any of this on the internet.

I put the original radio back in today. Proxy align still fails, in the RADIO module with a B2204 configuration error, which should not exist. NOTHING was done with the original radio except to remove it.

Proxy align fails on the RADIO module and that is that.

Now I have other, non-related issues in my dash, and the Dealer just blames me trying to swap out the radio.

The EVIC display and dash backlights flicker on and off while I am driving. Somehow this is caused by a radio? (the radio does not flicker btw)

Twice, on Friday, coming back from a road trip, as I approached a traffic light, the car put itself in park and shut off WHILE THE CAR WAS STILL MOVING!

The dealer drove around town and couldn't reproduce the issue, surprise surprise.

BTW they quoted me $298 to put the code and VIN into the uconnect 5.0! (the tried before and charged me for the procedure, and said they couldn't do it!)

I'll never buy another FCA product. (this was my 3rd in a row, 4th brand new Chrysler product)

I hear ya. Battery can cause all kinds of weird crap on cars these days.
I take back what I said in another post about old cars. The new ones are worse in some ways.

I am curious to know if that was the problem (battery). Would you mind posting back if/when you get it resolved?

Well, I finally got the error out of the BCM, so the proxy align completed properly.

No more flashing odometer. I am going to give it a few days, just to let the settings set in, and watch for the dash to start acting up again, then I will take it to a different dealer to have it checked out.

The way the dash is flickering, it is more like a loose connection than a battery issue, but the shutting itself off/tranny shifting could easily be battery.

Got the auto-dim mirror to work, finally. Have to enable CRVMM in BCM settings, then turn on EC mirror.

Now trying to wire in the microphone(s). I have the wiring diagram, but, so far, the radio flashes B143 Mic 1 circuit open.

I bought my 200 new back in Apr '15. I have been a member of this forum since then. I read it just about every day to see and understand some of the various problems that have popped up over those years to peoples cars. My overall thoughts are that these 200s are nothing but a rolling computer that can't be modified easily. Like Crazcnuk mentioned above, about what used to be a very simple task to switch out a radio for a better unit. We've all done it in the past and have happily enjoyed the fruits of our labour. But not these cars nowadays. What a pain. Although my 200 has given me very little problems I decided to purchase the Chrysler 419 extended warranty which I had to use just last week.
My heat had stopped on the drivers side, pass side still worked normally. Turns out it was an Ambient Temp Sensor within the system. The dealership ordered a new one and installed it about a week later which did not fix it. After checking it again they ordered another two sensors (there is a total of four in the system) which finally fixed it. I don't know the cost but I'm sure it was not cheap. All covered under the warranty.

I hear you and agree but that's about every newer vehicle on the road from Tesla to Hyundai. Takes a completely different skill set than before. Takes a completely different way of looking at it to have any chance of modifying it. Seeing it as a rolling smartphone with an ICE is a start - not saying I am "there" but just saying.

I especially hate drive by wire throttle on all these new cars. *thud (sound of throttle pedal being stomped on)* 1 watermelon 2 watermelon 3 watermelon - *sound of engine finally reacting to full throttle*

I don't think they are that complicated, IF there was a manual to go to. But, right now, we are playing with systems we don't understand with no idea what does what.

I think I made the computer part of this procedure more difficult because I had no idea what I was doing, and played with too many settings.

There are settings in the BCM for radio: type 1, type 2, type 3, type 4, for example, which I ASSUME means Ra1, RA2, RA3, etc but I don't know for sure.

The other problem is, the rearview mirror I bought is one of 4 possible for the car. There are settings for 5 different mic types, and I have no idea what mine are.

The error I am getting says Mic 1 circuit open no matter how I wire it, so are my wiring diagrams wrong? Who knows

Ok, Finally got the mics working! FOund out the wiring diagram picture I was using is basically a mirror image, and when I was looking at the radio and the plug from 'behind' so to speak, I got the plugs in the wrong spot.

I succesfully tested the handsfree today and it works!

This got rid of the error in the radio module, and now the only error is a B2204 which says the ECU is not configured. There are no errors in the ECU module itself, so not sure what setting it doesn't like.

But now everything is working, other than the flashing odometer. Handsfree, auto dim mirror, radio all working.

With AlfaOBD When I try to run the PROXI it succeeds on all 13 modules that my car has.

Then it fails to connect to the Radio Navigation Module and the PROXI fails.

Neither radio has Navigation, and I had not played with any navigation related settings, that I know of. The BCU should not be looking for that module. I have gone through all the settings and made sure that anything that
is related to GPS, Nav or anything that my radio does not have, is disabled.

This is the last step, I hope, in the whole procedure.

I tried to update my Uconnect 5.0 to a better firmware. In doing so, somehow the firmware ended up corrupted. I dont believe dealers keep any tech savvy people on their payroll. Their solution was to replace the whole radio. There was nothing physically wrong with the radio. Seems rather an expensive option but thats how it went down.

First...
This forum doesn't have features that kia-forums.com has and it makes it a lot harder to help others here...
One feature is an area for what car you drive (like 2016 Chrysler 200s) and another is an easy on forum search (search within the forum for a specific item)...

Next...
I believe there are two things that must be entered for an item (radio/HVAC/heated seats) to be acknowledged by the BCM... One is the "sales code" and another is the "proxy align" ... I may be wrong but I'm going from what I read and my memory... If the sales code is wrong the BCM may think the radio is a different one and won't proxy align it... Also I believe that both the FA3 and FA4 radios can have navigation but the FA3 doesb't have the "option" turned and is also MISSING the add on "radio navigation module" ...thus the failure of the proxy align...

Sales Codes are specific codes for only certain models... the 200C has different codes than the 200 and 200s and FCA has the power to limit which accessories with these codes CAN be used on different models...

Does this cause a displayed error about the missing navigation module or does it only show up during the proxy align? You might be OK with leaving the "error" alone and ignoring it if it's not displayed...

Sounds like the sales code for your upgraded radio has not been set properly...

Does anyone have a sheet of codes for available options?

Like I said I'm just learning about FCA's programming and limitations that they can set for a specific car model..

My 200s came to me as a "salvage" car and I have been comfortable with adding options on my other rescued cars and would love to add some 200c options from a "donor" salvage 200c...

Anyone out there have any luck with "cheap" ELM bluetooth OBDII modules with AlfaOBDII software?...

Actually, from what I have learned, you can't change the sales code in the radio. The BCM picks it up from the radio.

It also picks up the VIN of the new vehicle in the same manner.

The 'error' only shows when the PROXI fails. AlfaOBD goes through each module, in turn, and when it gets to the missing module it times out and fails the PROXI.

From what I have learned, if you change the radio DO NOT CHANGE ANY SETTINGS in the BCM (Car configuration changes) as the BCM will update itself when it talks to the new radio.

The only thing you need to do is install all applicable hardware, then run the PROXI.

If you try and run the PROXI when some hardware is missing, the appropriate module will fail as it will show error codes and all error codes have to be cured before a PROXI can run.

In my case I had an error, in the radio module saying 'Mic 1 circuit open' until I properly wired the mics.

Two dealers in my area said they could not do a PROXI because the new radio had the old VIN in it, but whenI go into ALFAOBD it shows the correct VIN (from my car).

The whole thing about writing dealer codes is in the computer database at Chrysler, not in your car, so that chrysler knows what your car is equipped with.

If I had an 8" radio, with nav, I am willing to bet I could plug it in and it would pass PROXI, because it would find the Radio Navigation Module\

As it stands I have a setting out of place that needs to be corrected but I can't find it.

...it actually does, including searching within the sub sections. Maybe it's your browser or settings - how are you viewing it? I have to move previous gen 200 11-14' topics to that section and vice-versa.. are you not seeing the sub-sections on here?

What would you like to see different? Send me a PM. I will communicate it to the admins.

Success! PROXI complete, everything working!

Found one errant setting, and that fixed the problem that stopped the PROXI alignmnet from exiting correctly.

Everything working properly now

Found the errant setting, and PROXI finished.

Next morning, my roommate went out to go for breakfast and the car started, but was surging, seatbelt errors, anti-lock errors, no shifter

Ran the PROXI twice, now everything working properly for last couple of days
