You probably don't have an EGR valve. That is part of the beauty of variable-valve timing (VVT) is that it can intentionally leave behind some spent combustion gases in the cylinder (by closing the exhaust valve earlier) during the exhaust stroke to dilute the next incoming air/fuel charge.
It can vary this amount of 'EGR' according to the engine conditions and the PCM software program. It is intrinsic & tamper-proof.

Thanks for the response. I just want to explain why I asked the question. Scanned a PO401 and one of the possibilities was EGR flow issue. Since my friend usually helps me by doing the hard work I try to make it easy on him. Lots of information on the cleaning process but since he was going to be leaving for Texas I just went online to see how much a new one would cost and ordered it. Went to Rock Auto, put in the model, year and engine 3.6 and it listed one part (EGR Valve) which I bought. But when you try to find a location I sh t you not it says Under the Hood! Hence my question to the group. Will return it to Amazon since the CEL hasn't reset and hope it passes emission testing and we get the sticker for the car.

P0401 isn't even on the list of possible fault codes for your car. I have had some strange reports from generic OBDII engine code readers. A different reader may have not reported this false code. Did you scan because of a lit 'ck eng' light? Or any other symptoms? Did the code erase?

In 2016 they added a cooled EGR system to the 3.6 V6.

VVT on the old engine was part of the control system that eliminated the need for EGR.
On the 2016 Pentastar, VVT incorporates an engine-torque-based cam phasing strategy.
The EGR for the 3.6 delivers a 0.8% improvement in fuel economy.

May have to see a dealer on that, you should not be getting that code on a 2012.

I was using a Thinkscan Plus scanner and it automatically does a full module scan on most cars. Unless I misread it the PO401 code came back as pending code. When I looked it up on this link Chrysler 200 P0401: Meaning, Causes, How to Fix | Drivetrain Resource which led me to looking for an egr valve for the Penstar V6 in the 2012 Chrysler. Went on Rock Auto which listed the part for the V6 Engine which further confused me.
Guess sometimes the information listed on the internet isn't accurate. I appreciate the responses to my post. So far CEL is off and am hoping it passes emissions here in Cali.

There is no EGR on YOUR motor. They did put a Cooled EGR system on later, if you read what I wrote You have a 2012, you do not have an EGR. It is not conflicting, because the engine does have one from 2016 and up. Funny thing is, if you look on Rock Auto, and look under the 2016 tab > 200 > 3.6 > Exhaust & Emissions, they don't have one listed. Yet, from 2011 to 2015, they have it listed, and yet 2016 added the EGR system.

VVT on the old engine was part of the control system that eliminated the need for EGR. After the long period without EGR, engineers added a liquid-cooled system that has normally been a design feature only on many heavy-duty trucks. It reduces temperature of the exhaust gases from 650°C to 130°C.(1202°F/266°F). The reduced gas temperature helps enable the higher compression ratio by suppressing knock at higher loads. And the EGR in itself delivers a 0.8% improvement in fuel economy and low NOx emissions. The EGR and variable valve lift system adds a little over 7.5lb to the engine.

I do believe the 2.4 has an EGR.
