Not sure it's just a "story". Same process as any part with any manufacturer... find out the date they made the revised part and what year they started it - (probably early 2016 late 2015?), look at the date stamp on the door panel of the vehicle, find the part number revision number to see if yours has been replaced with the new one... probably contact a dealer or Chrysler for specifics. Mine has been solid ever since it has been replaced.

I don't know the specifics on the housing. The vendor (supplier) code is usually a 5-digit number. The date code is usually a Julian (4-digit: dddy) number molded or branded into the plastic.
