My local guy says that these rims won't work on my 2012 convertible Touring.

He said the offset is too big and the wheels will rub when I turn. Does anyone here know if that's right? Rims are 18x8 with an offset of 42. All the online shops bring them up as an option. I'm planning on using the 225/50/18 tires that I have on the car now.

Did you post this in Reddit too?! I’m getting a sense of dejavu!

RTX says that the rim will clear the strut & caliper. The tire size used is out of their control.

The factory maximum width is 7.5" with a smaller tire, 8" might rub.
Offset is at the maximum limit.

My local guy said he called his RTX rep and that's who told him they would rub when turning, but the RTX site lists them as an option for my car.

The website asks what size tire is on the car. I chose the Touring 18 inch option and they say the rims will fit. If you scroll down on the wheel-size site, it says there should be no problems but I thought I'd ask on the different forums if anyone has tried this size rim and tire.
I have that size on my 2014 S. Had to cut out some of the rubber surrounding the tire well. It turns with no rub. Just put on a set of 18x8 Niche wheels work great. Have a set of black wheels for sale..18's.
