On our 2012 the steering wheel leather cover seems to be too slick and hard to grip at times. Since we bought the car with 58K miles on it in 2019 we do not know if it was like this when new. There is no deterioration in the leather. What is your experience and a solution?

It sounds like the previous owner or a doll-up person may have tried to coat it with an Armor-All type protectant or a silicone-spray?
I would begin by trying to wash it with a warm water and a leather-friendly soap. Scuffing with a Scotch pad may break the glaze? The owners manual or internet may give helpful tips.
If that doesn't help, look for a good, used, matching steering wheel at a salvage yard or pic n'pull place. Avengers and Jeeps may use the same wheel, but with a different horn pad? You may find a 'corporate' use wheel from a 300, Charger or T&C that works?
