Hey everyone,
New Member here and I figure this is a good place to start for my question here.

I have a 2016 Chrysler 200 Limited with the 2.4 Multi-Air, this past weekend I replaced my entire Thermostat housing because it was throwing a code for Thermostat Irregularity. During the winter months the engine temp struggled to reach 185 with the heat on.

After replacement the check engine light has not come back, I have no leaks and bled all the air out of the system right after installation. However, one issue I was having before is still rearing it's ugly head even after replacement with all new parts.

While driving the car will stay between 185-195 which seems right, but when I come to a stop in traffic the temp will start to climb, I've never let it get above 220, I'll either crank the heat all the way up or turn on the AC to get the temp to drop. But it's not always a good temp to do either of those things and I'd like to have the option to run blower only and have no heat or AC running.

It's only when I'm at a stop that the temp climbs, but yesterday even at 220 sitting in my driveway the radiator fan did not engage and I'm worried that having the temp climb over the halfway mark on the temp gauge should not be normal operation.

If anyone has an opinion on this or has dealt with this themselves I'm open to suggestions, or if this is normal in this car it'll set me at ease. I drive about an hour each way on my commute everyday so I don't want to get stranded halfway if this thing decides to bite the dust.

I did purchase this car brand new in 2016 but back then I never paid any attention to the temp of the coolant and I'm not sure what the normal operation of it was back then. I have just under 70K on the car as of today.

I appreciate any input I can get and thanks for reading through!

Welcome to the forum !
Your vehicle is now operating normally. Fans should start up slowly around 220, then go full speed around 230.
I appreciate the quick reply! That takes a good bit of stress off me, I'll have to let it run at idle in my driveway to make sure that the fans do kick on when they are supposed to with the hood open. I just want to be sure, just seems odd that the car would run over the halfway mark on the temp gauge before fans would engage.

Welcome to the forum. Has your car been recalled for the catalytic converter or oil consumption issue?
If not, there is a software update for cold engine faults. PCM software has an 8 yr/80K mile extended federal emissions warranty.

To be honest I'm not sure about a recall, I haven't been informed of that.

But the code that my engine was throwing before I replaced the entire thermostat housing was the Thermostat Rationality code, after replacement of the thermostat it has not reappeared though.

Would you suggest I take it and see if I can get that software update?

Does Stellantis know that you have the car & have your current mailing address? I can look up if your car is under a recall with the last 8 characters of the VIN. Send it to me in 'Conversations' if you like.
Those recalls include a software update that are cumulative with all past PCM/TCM software improvements.

I'm not sure about the mailing address, I purchased the car new in 2016 while in the military from a dealer in North Carolina and have since relocated to Kentucky.
