Cruise control doesn’t do anything?

I’ve had my 2011 convertible for a bit over a year now and I’ve never actually been able to use the cruise control feature. I press it because surprisingly, the car actually feels like it moves less from side to side on the highway when it’s on (stays more in it’s lane.)

What exactly am I supposed to do to get it working? Is it supposed to stay at a certain speed without me having to press the gas? I just press the + button a few times while cruise control is activated (and it says cruise on the dashboard) and then hope it stays at a certain speed, but it never does. The speed starts decreasing.

Thanks for the tips. I’m going to the electronics guy next week to install apple carplay and a rearview camera, so if it’s a technical issue he can take a look at it. But I’m not sure if it’s just my plain ignorance with the feature.

I've had some problems with the cruise control switch on my 2012. I'm almost positive mine is in the switch itself. The replacement part is not very expensive but I guess the labor would be at least $100.

Try rapping the switch with your knuckles, especially on the left edge because the electrical connections are under the left side of the switch. Mine works about 90% of the time.

Hi MrKayser,

Pages 157-159 in your Owner's Manual talks about Electronic Speed Control (cruise control). I've added some screenshots below but you can download a copy of your Owner's Manual on www.mopar.com for further information. If you decide to visit your local dealership for additional diagnosis I'd be happy to follow up with them for you if needed, just PM our page with your VIN and let me know!

Once you activate the cruise with the o/off switch, you have to touch the "set" switch with the - sign on it. I have problems with the Cruise switch not turning on the cruise. My dealer replaced the switch under warranty, but that didn't fix it. I find that if it doesn't work, I hit the set button and then the cruise and it works. Technology is grand!
