The cruise control should hold the pre-selected speed. If it loses speed ( or gains ) then the control unit, or any of the sensors feeding information to the control unit could be faulty. My first guess would be the speed sensor has a problem.

You are not doing anything wrong.

 

Thanks for the info. I'm guessing the dealership has to take a look at it. I really want to take advantage of this feature during road trips..

 

I've had some problems with the cruise control switch on my 2012. I'm almost positive mine is in the switch itself. The replacement part is not very expensive but I guess the labor would be at least $100.

Try rapping the switch with your knuckles, especially on the left edge because the electrical connections are under the left side of the switch. Mine works about 90% of the time.

Once you activate the cruise with the o/off switch, you have to touch the "set" switch with the - sign on it. I have problems with the Cruise switch not turning on the cruise. My dealer replaced the switch under warranty, but that didn't fix it. I find that if it doesn't work, I hit the set button and then the cruise and it works. Technology is grand!
