Hello all.
This has been posted in the past and i’ve read a few of the posts about the airbag sensor problem. The plug under the driver seat is the culprit not a faulty sensor. My wife and I often share a car for errands and moving the seat jars the sensor plug at the back left of the rail closest to the outside of the car. Reaching in and just pressing the plug together as if you’re connecting it actually fixes the problem. I’m not sure if it’s a loose wire inside the plug or just plug itself is faulty, but just pressing it together makes the light go out and the sensor function. Then moving the seat jars it loose again. Especially in the summer months. Just a tip for anyone who is seeking to get rid of the car or purchasing an extended warranty that requires an inspection you can quick fix this issue to eliminate the sensor from tripping the code. My 200 is a 2016 Limited. Hope this helps!

Thanks for your reply. The latches are intact and the plug is fully socketed. There is a loose pin inside the socket that is coming out of contact somehow. I’ve never been one to have trash or items on the floor to bump or damage it and I can only guess that it’s from moving the seat forward and back when my wife or I drive it. She pushes the seat nearly all the way forward where as I put it nearly all the way back.

I recieved a letter from Chrysler that they are extending the warranty on the wiring harness in the front seats for the airbags for 10 years but will only fix it if the airbag has activated. They should recall it!Dealer wants $600 to fix it.
Thanks for that info.
Thankfully, I can make the light stay off for weeks if I don’t move the seat forward and back. I’m also not going to worry about it being I am trading the car in the next day or two anyway. With used car values so high it’s foolish not to jump out of it in my situation. So after I finalize the paperwork and sign the contract on my new car, I’ll inform the salesman that “Oops” I forgot about that story so they can fix it before reselling it to someone else. Don’t want anyone to inherit the problem when the dealer can fix it for next to nothing. Beyond some of the totally stupid engineering designs they used for speed of manufacture of the car, it has served me well and has been reliable for the 84k miles I put on it. The biggest gripe I have about the car is the cheap way they connected the cooling lines on the motor. Plastic quick fasten pressure connectors that fail. Instead of replacing entire hoses I spliced them with hose clamps and it will never fail again. Other than that it’s always done it’s job.
